Chief of Staff


Colonel Norhazalan’s first post as a commission officer in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces was as Platoon Commander in the Second Battalion, Royal Brunei Land Force and held the post for 2 years.


In March 2000, he underwent selections and training into the Special Forces Regiment (SFR) and became Troop Leader of the SFR. In August 2001, he assumed the post of Second in Command of the Special Combat Squadron. From October 2002 until September 2006, Colonel Norhazalan was appointed as Officer Commanding of the Special Forces Regiment. He later transferred and served as Officer Commanding in the First Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Force for 2 years.

In July 2008, Colonel Norhazalan joined the  United Nations Interim Force Lebanon, UNIFIL and ended his tour in August 2010. Upon returning in 2010, he then once again assumed position as Second in Command of the Special Forces Regiment until 2012.


From 2012 until 2015, he was appointed as Staff Officer Grade 1 J3 (Operations) at the Joint Force Headquarters, Royal Brunei Armed Forces. He then served as Military Aide to the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces from 2015 until 2018.

 

On March 2018, Colonel Norhazalan was appointed as the Chief of Staff at the Joint Force Headquarters, Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

He is married to Siti Noor Rosilah Wati bte Hj Abdullah and has two daughters and 3 sons.
